Questions

There are many fine lines in the Christian Faith, some more “fine” than others.  Like is it ok   to drink alcohol?  Is it ok to eat certain meats?  Is it ok to go into a bar and order some food? Is it okay to go clubbing? I mean some of them may seem silly, but the answer to these questions are yes and no.

Its ok to drink as long as you are not getting drunk, and have control of yourself.  The Bible says we should practice self control in ALL things (1 Corinthians 9:24-27).  So watching 10 hours of TV unproductively can be a sin too. Nothing good results from being addicted to something.  I am sure everyone can think of an unfortunate incident that occurred, resulting from someones inability to practice self control.

Having many Muslim friends, I pondered the question if it was okay for me to eat halal meat. So in church today we talked about this:

Paul said in 1 Corinthians 8 that the church of Corinth could eat the meat processed through the temple of the gods back then.  Why?  Because we know that there is only one God and that those idols are non existent.  He says that the  food we eat does not affect our relationship with God.  But Paul said it was not ok if it weakens another believer.  “Don’t let your liberty destroy the confidence of the weak” (by my pastor)

So at the end of the day don’t put another believer in temptation if they aren’t as strong as you in that arena.  Like if you drink wine on occasions and usually have it out, but a fellow brother/sister in Christ comes over for dinner and you know that it may not be the best idea to have the wine in sight, put it away.  Say they may be tempted by it or don’t agree with Christians drinking etc, just spare yourself the trouble and store the wine away for the night.

Now if you are on the other side of the argument, like you don’t agree with Christians drinking or eating certain foods etc.  Don’t be judgmental  but do everything in love.  Pray for the person if they are in sin but dont wrongly persecute other believers if the Bible says otherwise.  If you are Christian and gonna have an opinion, make sure your opinion is biblical and you are not going around spreading false information and confusing other believers.

The reason night clubs and Christians don’t really collide is because of what goes on in the night club.  You are surrounded by temptations, so why put your self in that position? Lust, alcohol, sex, I feel like that is the theme of night clubs, and I know this is fun to many people but this kind of fun is very destructive. It is fine to dance,  I mean David danced half naked when the sacred chest was brought back to Jerusalem.  But is just gets too complicated, the music and dancing can get to worldly.  Thats why its not a good idea for Christians to go to night clubs. But if you truly have God in your heart, the Holy Spirit will convict you when something is wrong.

So in conclusion practice self-control in all things, make sure the love of Jesus is in the center of all you do and think, and make sure what you do or say is biblical.  I hope this helps some of you!
