Today in class we learned about the “The Unconscious Mind”, discovered by Sigmund Freud, an Austrian neurologist. In psychology there is a term called repression, which means when dramatic things happen to us in life our conscious mind might forget the event but our unconscious mind doesn’t. For example someone may have been rejected by a special someone in their life. So the conscious mind doesn’t remember but the unconscious mind does, which leads to a possible phobia around girls/guys.
How would the unconscious mind affect us?
How should it affect us?
Or is this even a legitimate question to ask, if we cannot control it? Or can we?
Christian comes from the Greek word “Χριστιανός” “christianos”, which means follower of Christ. This word is derived from “christos”, which means the anointed one but in Hebrew translated as “מָשִׁיחַ” “messiah”. Literally we are derived from Christ and His sacrifice, our meaning, our purpose, who we are, is derived from all that He is. And He is good and He is love and He has overcome this world by His sacrifice.
So if He has overcome the world then what do we have to fear? Neither the physical and emotional toll of this world cannot compare to what God has in store for us here on this earth and in Heaven. We have no need to fear what the conscious mind and unconscious mind can do to us, for we are overcomers through the blood. And we trust God knows best in every situation we go through, and He has got our backs always. Whatever we cannot control, God can. Whatever uncontrollable situation you are going through (your health, loss of a loved one, finances etc.) give it to Jesus, for nothing is impossible with Him! Can I hear an Amen?
1 Peter 5:10
10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast
